About
Hale Ho'ola (PKC201) is a Hawaiian-styled, well-appointed Puako Beach Condo. This second floor corner unit has refreshing cross breezes and wonderful light and is located in a quaint, secluded community. The unit comes with a fully equipped L-shaped Ikea kitchen with all appliances, great pots and pans, sharp knives and small appliances - everything a cook would desire. There is a full sized stacked washer with dryer and two bathrooms stocked with luxurious linens and towels. All three bedrooms have beds that are firm but comfortable and each bedroom has high efficiency ceiling fans with remote controls to circulate the cooling cross breezes entering the unit. With ease in mind, this unit has flat screen TV's in the living room and primary bedroom. Entertainment options include Roku, Netflix and a Blu-ray player. Enjoy great Broadband and WiFi with upwards of 400+ Mbps download speed. If you want to stay home, you can sit on the lanai and enjoy the ocean breeze, and use the well-appointed kitchen to create whatever strikes your fancy or throw something on the side lanai electric grill to expand your cooking options. Embrace the outdoors on the larger lanai and dine alfresco or take in the sunset colors with your favorite beverage. Guest can relax at teh property pool and indulge in a BBQ grill for a prefect island retreat.
The waters around Puako are great - they are very clean, and three of the islands' largest and nicest white sand beaches (Waikoloa, Hapuna & Mauna Kea) are in adjacent coves within two miles of the condo. For those times in between visits to the beach, the condo has a nice, gated pair of pools. One is small and shallow, ideal for kids under 3 years old. The other is larger but by no means a lap pool. Enjoy all that Puako Bay has to offer or nearby at Hapuna Beach with the provided chairs, beach towels, umbrellas, coolers, boogie boards and snorkeling gear.
Puako is a relaxed, beachfront community, and this unit is ideally located to make your life easy and relaxed. Hale Ho'ola is next door to the quaint and funky Puako General Store - an incredibly convenient place with supplies for everything from breakfast to dinner, Hawaiiana and some snorkeling/fishing gear to boot. You may want to do a stock-up trip or two into Kona (35 minutes away with Costco, Safeway, etc...) or Waimea (western style town, home of the Parker Ranch, about 20 minutes away, and with a gigantic western style wooden play structure to make the trip fun) and you can spend the rest of the trip being mellow on the beach.
The unit has a map of all the best locations for activities ranging from a hand-built sheltered rock tide-pool to explore, to romantic beaches on which to watch a sunset. Toss the cooler in the car, and enjoy a different sunset beach within a five minute drive each night. Three large world class beaches are all a short drive away. Pick the beach that has the combination of sand, surf & snorkeling that suits your fancy on each day. During the winter Hapuna has great body surfing - with regular nice sized waves every day. Wailea Bay has lots of trees right next to the ocean - it is a great beach to enjoy some shade but with your toes in the sand. It is hard to go wrong! There are also lots of smaller beaches directly off of Puako road, accessible through short by-ways marked by "Beach Access" signs. Walks to the beach are typically less than 50 feet. The nearest access is a great one - it is just a block away (and fine to walk), with a sheltered lava-rock pool for the kids, and decent entry for a nice, early morning scuba dive or snorkel.
If you want to go out for meals, both modest and fancy restaurants are within a 10-15 minute drive, ranging from the resorts of Mauna Kea, Mauna Lani and the Hapuna Prince to the nearby town of Kawaihae, home of excellent shave ice and complete with an open-daily Farmer's Market - a great source for papaya, vegetables and sweet cane rice sticks. Sightly to the north is Hawi, a lovely artist community with the best ice cream on the island. There is a list of restaurants that the guests have tried and have been well recommended.
Drop your bags and get ready to relax!
